UK, Iraq, Rwanda & Shakespeare Meet Black Global Artistes & Talent Under Hardship, To Pay Homage To Martin Luther King On The Anniversary Of His “I Have A Dream” & To #BlackLivesMatter

(23 August 2020 London) The Hate2Love Collective (H2LC), led by a cohort of British actors and creatives under hardship, who call the UK home, has announced its second, free online performance show, called “Identity” to feature in its series of “All The Feels Part II – Identity”.

The show will be performed live, via Hate2Love Collective’s YouTube channel on Youtube at 7pm BST on Friday, 28th August 2020.

Followed by a live Q&A with its diverse cast, crew and production. in the UK and around the world.

The show will feature words from Martin Luther King’s iconic “I Have A Dream” speech, wisdom from Malcolm X and powerful performances from UK based Iraqi war refugee Beshuar Hussain as well as a preview to the film “Roots of Forgiveness”, which explores empathy in the aftermath of the infamous Rwandan civil war genocide that saw over million from theTutsi, Twa and Hutus tribes killed and tortured.

H2LC is also collaborating with Worldwide Shakespeare – a cohort of creatives who platform performances of Shakespeare from a diverse array of global artistes.

“All the Feels” is a show which features monologues and vignettes of original work from emerging and existing talent: actors, writers and creatives from around the UK. It features characters who live in the fictional city of Heathledge, based on London Bridge.

The cast and crew will also reveal details of its support for a new global fundraising campaign #MLKIHAD (Martin Luther King I Have A Dream) designed to raise funds to artistically combat Modern Day Slavery, racism and hatred by its official sponsor, award-winning Lovedesh®, a new British ethical luxury brand on a mission to protect our planet.

Led by British mother and daughter creative design duo Yasmin & Amber from Lovedesh®, who work with the poorest exploited talented artisans and workers in supply chains around the world such as their heritage nation of Bangladesh, as well as Rwanda, Kashmir and Palestine.

H2LC is a new not-for profit British theatre, performance and production company with aims to expand globally. The idea was to gather and explore the emotions between extreme hate and love and we slowly blossomed from there.

We aim to create a platform to promote unknown, emerging and existing talent. We especially want to support the creatives who rise from extreme hardship but who are not being seen.

In workshops over Zoom, the performers and co-founders of the collective which started as early as January 2020, have been working tirelessly in an artistic challenge to explore the many variations of “Love and Hate” – without mentioning this word. Their discussions, along with input from grassroot guest speakers, who have shared their experiences of extreme Hate and Love, have subsequently inspired these creators to showcase their art. And to widen their audience so that it is inclusive and not deemed “artsy fartsy” theatre.

This creative offering was performed over zoom and broadcasted live and like many theatre shows will last no longer than two hours and a half (inc interval and Q&A). The show aims to give audiences a brief hiatus from the pandemic “mad” world we currently find ourselves in, whilst provoking thoughts

on: “How simple is it to understand ‘Hate’ and ‘Love’?” “How are they tainted by other emotions/bias/misinformation? “Can one Hate and Love someone/thing at the same time?”

British actress, social entrepreneur, H2LC founder & CEO of Lovedesh®, Yasmin Choudhury who helps to fund and support H2LC, commenting said: “With #BlackLivesMatters changing the world around us, the global arts scene itself has come under attack for its lack of diversity. Recently the Academy Awards has changed its criteria as well as expanded its membership base.  But this is not enough and it’s why the H2LC will continue fighting to ensure decision makers in the creative sector take on the responsibility to hire more diverse actors, who, through a combination of lack of income, social mobility and complex disadvantages don’t get seen enough or paid the same.”

Black creative, Deputy CEO, Amelia Parillon, said: “We want more diversity not posturing – this includes not just black, indigenous and ethnic actors but those who are from foreign nations who currently are not represented in the creative world. This is one of the reasons we have reached out to artistes from Rwanda and Iraq to share the story of identities”

“All The Feels” by H2LC will be a regular series. And the next shows are already scheduled to be performed on 28 November 2020.  The first pilot, created in less than one month, has inspired contributions from guest speakers such as Ivan Humble, a former Far Right, now Counter-Terrorist advisor and activist.  A midwife who works for the NHS.  A speech by Dan Biddle – one of the survivors of the 7/7 London terror attack who Yasmin met.  As well as many broken-hearted who shared their personal stories of being estranged from close relatives but wish to remain anonymous.  And men who explained how they have struggled to show vulnerability and have been victims of domestic abuse.
